-Forsaken-

"The Skakdi race have always been strong, I admit to that. So when you and your kind tampered with us to make a race of soldiers it could have been something glorious. But that failure -Spiriah- cocked up and turned us into vicious barbarians. I commend you for wanting him executed. Is there a reward for his mask, with or without the head?" Sykura said, laughing briefly.
"I could propose that you get one for ending that arrogant cretin, but Makuta will probably see that you still being alive is enough of a reward." Makuta Chirox replied.
"My, my, such kind people you work with."
"Indeed." came the response, "But now it's time for you to know why you were brought here."

Sykura looked around the lab. He saw a vat of a silvery liquid which seemed to move of its own accord, stone tables laden down with chemistry equipment, rows upon rows of bookshelves, strange leech-like creatures swarming around in containment tanks, and finally what Chirox was leading him to: a suit of armour and a Kanohi mask.

"Although you were already slightly, ah... demented-"
"Thanks."
"-prior to Spiriah's experiments," Chirox continued, ignoring the sarcastic comment, "your condition seems not to have been worsened. Aside from the powers." He picked up the Kanohi and handed it it Sykura, who turned it over in his hands. He could feel the power emanating from it. Its face was fashioned to like a skull, but with fangs and spikes extending all the way down a three foot long crest. Sykura noticed the three deep scars running across the right eye socket.
"We wish to see if you are able to wield the mask's power. If you can, it will open up some intersting possibilities..."
"Such as?"
"I'm unfortunately unable to discuss the nature of my work with you."
"... Fair enough. I probably do not want to know, anyway."
"Most likely. Now, try the mask on."

Sykura placed the mask on his face. He felt a strange quiver from the mask a it changed shape and colour to match himself. He then turned to the mirror on his right. The mask was now dark blue, with gold streaks running through it to match his dark and light blue, gold armoured body. The fanged mouth of the mask now enveloped his own fanged Skakdi maw, almost as if he had a jaw within a jaw, underneath his gleaming purple eyes.

"I have to admit," Sykura said in his high, cold voice, "I look pretty damn cool. But before I try it out, may I ask what this mask does? I have not seen one of its kind before this."
"Of course. It is the Kanohi Crast, the Great Mask of Repulsion. It allows you to repel objects away from yourself at high speed. It's effectively a Hau, just more powerful... and fun."
"Let's take it for a spin!" Sykura exclaimed, intrigued with the possibilities.

The mask glowed a faint light blue as an invisible fist burst gently forth, cracking the mirror and knocking a vat off a table, where it shattered on the floor. The vat contained three of those leech-like creatures, which now free of their containment, launched themselves at Sykura. He could feel their fangs sinking into the muscle in between his armour plating, and draw something (something which he did not know what it was) from deep within him. In an effort to remove the creatures Sykura activated the Crast again, but did so with too much force and knocked himself, the Makuta armour nearby, and the leeches into the vat of silver liquid.

Agony. Pure agony. Sykura could feel the armour, mask and leeches melting and fusing together, just as his very body did the same.

****

"I don't think he's dead. He seemed to fuse with the objects."
"I saw a s much, Chirox," Krika replied darkly, "but nonetheless -- I'm not picking that up. Energized Protodermis is one of the few things that can kill a Makuta."
"Do you think Mutran would be stupid and or insane enough to try it?" Chirox laughed.
Krika remained silent.

****

Sometime later, Sykura regained consciousness. He quickly drove for the surface of the vat, gasping for air. As he broke free and stepped out, he saw from within his Crast his new form in the cracked mirror. He was taller, much taller (his legs now triple-jointed), his armour black and gunmetal with glowing blue highlights running throughout it. His trademark Skakdi spines were lager than ever.

Feeling the raw power running through him, Sykura laughed a laugh that cracked the stone walls around him.

****

Ah, that was clever.

Excellent work, my Europen friend, excellent. A good reminder there is more to this website than the immediate association game.

Oops, forgot to comment on this. Mild Surprise

Your use of Chirox is applauded by me, as previously said. :P The mutation of your character was to be expected, but is of course interesting. I'm not sure I like the image of the Crast projecting an invisible hand, though... I always thought of it as more of a force field.

Ah, the admin will must all agree with or he shall demote us has a point; why Chirox when Mutran is so much more entertaining?

What? Since when have I demoted anyone for disagreeing for me? O~o

I actually kind of like Chirox, though.

...I just figured, since Zen Jorra demoted you for disagreeing with her...

"Power corrupts and Pepsi corrupts absoluely,"

But, about the epic...

Don't you remember from the Tale, what Wally/I said?

"I am the sort of person anyone could have become, had they been perfect."

:P

But seriously.

And back to the epic, where did Krika come from all of a sudden at the end? :P And why was there an extra Crast?

Krika was in the lab all along, he just did not speak. I was going to mention him been there but clearly forgot to. :P

The Crast and armour are from a dead Makuta.

The hand... well, I wanted the effect of the Crast to be like punching someone/thing... but without actually touching them. If that makes sense.

I had the impression that most Makuta had different masks... insane Mutran and Icarax's stolen Kraahkan later in life being the exceptions. But whatever. :P

And no, I'm not sure that makes sense.

:P

Most, sure, but Icarax and Mutran are the only exceptions I know.

And one can't always make sense. :P

Well, there was around one hundred Makuta to begin with. I doubt that there would be so many of the immoral Kanohi. Also Icarax and the Kraahkan would not count, as it was the same mask; there being only one Mask Of Shadows.

True, but when do I? :P

Maybe so, but I hardly think Teridax would keep their masks and armor around, if only to not remind the other Makuta of their former existence...

I thought he mounted masks on his wall...

Didn't he mount all of the masks of the Makuta that stayed loyal to Miserax on a wall in Destral to remind no one to mess with him?

Yes, Makuta Teridax mounted the masks of the Makuta who sided with Miserix on the walls of the Convocation Chamber.

I was thinking that the Makuta were experimenting on it, which was why it was in a lab. I thought that would have been rather obvious. :P

Spectral: Really? scratch Wow, I'm really behind. Thanks for the trivia/facts, though, all.

Sykura: Yes, I should probably have guessed. :P

Ah, but Matoran forge great masks with Kanoka Disks. To create a new mask, some more Makuta would have to have fused random disks together until he or she found a combination...

More fool.

The Kanohi that the Makuta wore were made from Protosteel, as they were created at the same time the Makuta were by Mata Nui.

Spectral: Yes, but only Matoran forge masks with Kanoka disks. :P The Makuta's masks, as Sykura said, were made at the same time as the Makuta themselves. The Avohkii and Ignika were also not made by Kanoka disks, I think.

No, I don't think so...

So, what you're saying is Kanohi Crast was forged at the same time as the Makuta? I has thought it was the subject of some expeirement, therefore forged by Chirox a little more recently... how long has the Crast been under expeirementation?

I'm pretty sure that this Crast was forged at the same time the Makuta were, but has been experimented on more recently.

The Crast was from a Makuta who had been killed recently. Chirox was simply using that Makuta's armour and Kanohi because (I) He needed it. (II) It was going spare. :P

Spectral: *facepalm* Yes he did, but that doesn't mean he can't run tests on it.

Sykura: Why would Chirox need it? :P
