| Okay, so what's THIS about now? No doubt those of us who write fiction have been influenced by other people's works in some way. Ideas and information can, in fact, be "free" in the sense we think of them in. Some outside concepts have probably had some effect, however small, on any work you might have written. So, I challenge you all to a game of finding connections in members' works, even your own. (We could expand it at some point to encompass other people's works, too, but that seems a bit large of a range for now.) What have you or others written that subtly or unsubtly references outside work? Or, perhaps more unusually, have you seen things written that connect to other works by the same author? (I'm a student of the latter art. ) Basically this is just a topic for the fun of it, and the profits will come later. Most topics I make in CI&S will be like this. So, post away if you like. Or not. -|W|G|- | |

| I've just recently begun writing a graphic (i.e. drawing-based) story that portrays websites as physical places. (Don't expect to see it too soon, though. It's going really slowly. ) Though I had the idea for it long before I joined CM, the Tale has influenced this story quite a bit, especially where the structure of the world it's set in is concerned. For example, I portray--or, rather, will be portraying--my website as a building within the Arvixe fortress, as sort of a metaphor for my hosting company, Arvixe. I was originally going to portray websites as cities, but this just seems so much 'neater', somehow. (Thanks, Wally! lol) In addition, Maybe Not has invaded my work. | |
