| Don't you remember the ones I told you about? Graphic-novel-ish covers, with some weird italicized gigantic "AF" logo that Artemis would never be seen using?

| Ah. I have also read Atlantic Complex, and noticed something odd. In the first few chapters, Eion Colfer inforces that Artemis is 15. How is that possible? He was 18 in the Time Paradox, but the Lost Colony established that whole time-change thing. That would make him 15, because he went forward three years.
But here's the catch. THE BOOK CLAIMS HE TURNED 15ON HIS BIRTHDAY, WHICH TOOK PLACE IN THE FIRST CHAPTER. HE SHOULD BE 16.
Mistake? | |

| That's probably just one of those things where it was subtle enough for the editor to not notice it, yet plainly is there, so Eoin Colfer didn't bother to go back to correct it. -|W|G|- | |

| ...no, you didn't. You said he was geneticly 15, when he wasn't. What I realy don't get was why the author didn't just make him 20 and be done with it.
Perhaps this was meant to take place between Opal Deception and the Lost Colony?

| No, we've already explained this. He's fifteen because of either a typo or because of the Lost Colony. ~A~ | |

| But at the end of the Time Paradox, he was legally 18 and geneticly 16, not 18.
Therefore, it must be a typo... right?

| But the book claimed his birthday was in the first chapter. He turned 15 in Iceland. Unless I'm wrong and he started 14 in Lost Colony, it's a typo. But, to that point, he would have been 17 when he returned, not 18.
I'm pretty sure 15 + 3 + 1 = 19.

| Well, ladies and mentlegen, the latest and final AF book came out...uh, quite a while ago. Anyone else read it yet? What'd you think of it? [Also, Wally, if I may suggest that you add it to the poll...?] - Spoiler:
I would've liked if there'd been some mention of the fates of some of the characters from previous books, Jon Spiro and Minerva particularly. Jon Spiro was such an intriguing antagonist, it seemed a real shame to retire him after one book. Artemis' death actually made me cry, and I very rarely cry over fictional characters. Even so, I thought it seemed a bit...desperate to bring him back to life like that. I probably wouldn't have liked it if he'd remained dead anyway, so I guess there's just no pleasing me. Other than that, I though it a good read, and a decent end to one of my favourite series.

I haven't read it and I'm not entirely sure I will. The series sort of went downhill in my opinion, and I'm pickier about books these days. I probably should read it, though, just because none of my favorite series are updating/updated.

| Yes. That one. I agree that the series went downhill. Opal Koboi got tiresome after...oh, "The Opal Deception." The whole Atlantis Complex arc seemed a bit contrived to me. But it's still a good series. I'd loan you my copy if distance and paranoia didn't make that impractical. | |

| I don't remember Turnball Root very much. It's been a while since I've read the Atlantis Complex. He still wasn't my favourite antagonist...especially since he's (apparently) so forgettable. He was much better in the short story whose name I forget (LEPrecon?) in "The Artemis Fowl Files." Actually, I think the short stories in "The Artemis Fowl Files" were better than some of the books. XP Wellll...I am going to be traveling through your state in October and again in November. We could completely eliminate shipping costs. Paranoia, though, would be a a different case. | |

| He definitely served as a better character in the Artemis Fowl Files. I actually don't remember most of the books very well, but I do know that Turnball wasn't worth remembering from The Atlantis Complex. And who says I'm going to be in my base state in the fall? -|W|G|- | |

| Yeah...the later books are beginning to blur together. I'm not entirely sure there was much worth remembering from The Atlantis Complex. All I really remember is the space probe hijacking/crash and Artemis' Atlantis Complex. Orion was amusing. XD Why? Will my presence cause you to evacuate? I'm not that scary, dude. | |

| I seem to remember thinking that by that point even an artificial personality like Orion's couldn't liven up Artemis's character. I don't remember much else though. By that time I might be traveling. but the the real STATMENT to be makingn here is that,, onely the COMMMANDER can propperly use the word 'dude'' -|W|G|- | |

| Maybe all the time-traveling affected Artemis's personality. He was originally a great character, but I think that as he became a nicer person, he also became a bit boring. XP For a month? I thought I and my family were the only people who got to do that. Well, if you're not traveling or if we're traveling in the same region (or if you're traveling through northern Wisconsin sometime), would you be at all interested in meeting each other? Ever? I mean, before the hypothetical Codrexian Expedition to England. | |

| I thought he was still tolerable by The Time Paradox, but he did devolve over time, mainly because of so-called "character development". I don't know about an entire month, but I'm not sure about much at all that I'm doing at that time. Then again why am I even discussing my travel plans? o~o You can take this any way except the wrong way, but the answer to your question is no and the answer to your question is yes. -|W|G|- | |

| He was tolerable, but boring people can be tolerable. Holly was really the best character in the later books. And Mulch. Mulch never really changed.
Fine. Forget it. Forget I ever said anything on the matter.

| Yeah, Mulch never changed, which was nice I guess. I don't recall Butler undergoing much change either... I should probably reread the books. I think it's very likely we'll meet anyway, but maybe somewhere other than my house if you don't mind. -|W|G|- | |

| You just can't improve Mulch. I thought Butler did change somewhat. He became a bit less professional, a bit 'softer', but it didn't detract much from his character. Juliet was always a good character, even though she changed a lot. In some ways, I'd say she changed more than anyone else. Good lard, man, who said anything about your house? I wouldn't want you coming to my house either. You'd be welcome at the store anytime, though. | |

Well where else would I be the whole fall besides home or the university? And perhaps someday I'll show up at the store, though I'll have to see if I'll be passing through Wisconsin. -|W|G|-

| I think in the end Mulch was the most distinctive character of the books. I'm not sure he was ever my favorite, but at least he didn't get the treatment by Eoin Colfer that Artemis did. Also, just to note, I probably wouldn't be in-state if I was traveling. -|W|G|- | |

| [I had to write this out FOUR TIMES before it would post. ] Mulch was never my favourite character. That honorable position always went to Holly or Artemis. But he was always a favourite, if that makes any sense. Foaly was one of those, too. I assumed so, but I couldn't resist pointing it out. And your state isn't the only place I'm traveling to or through. For all we know, we could be going to the same place. Not that I even know where we're going, aside from Tennessee for a trade show and North (or South? Can't remember which) Carolina to see some cousins. | |
