| An odd boy idles away the minutes in his house, waiting for a present that will arrive very soon. Today is neither his birthday nor a major holiday. Well okay it's sort of a major holiday. But in any case, it is the day his friend’s game-developer guardian promised to send him a new game for testing. So he waits for the software code to arrive in his inbox on the computer, so he can modify and play it. But who is this kid anyway?
> Introduce yourself.
Your name is OBERON SCYREB. You are a master of ACQUIREMENT DEALS, choosing mostly to collect LEGO PARTS. This has been a bit of a blow to your MINOR FINANCES. However, you see your monetary losses as simply OUTSIDE SETBACKS to the enlargement of your substantial stash. As the years have gone by, you have amassed a few CONSIDERABLY VALUABLE ITEMS, which you are proud of. You enjoy reading OBSCURE BOOKS and watching MOVIES, which you are apt to make various OBLIQUE REFERENCES to. Nobody ever gets what you’re talking about, but you still love your references. This highly unusual background in entertainment also sparks your imagination, leading you to pursue your LEGO ACQUIREMENTS as well as various OTHER PROJECTS such as WRITING that you don’t really tell anyone about. You consider so-called "young adult" literature to be RIDICULOUSLY SHALLOW, and there is nothing you hate more than examples of said literature that also contain FALSE SCIENCE. You often mutter that looking through shelves of young adult books is a WORSE IDEA than participating in a PRACTICAL JOKE. Your current username on the site you use to chat with your friends is oneiroiTaleteller . What now?
> Oberon: Inspect room.
It’s not that interesting. Your bed is sloppily made - you can hardly deal with those ridiculous new sheets. Somewhere in here, there are probably some nearly complete sets of US and Canadian quarters. You keep most of your important collections elsewhere. However, you do have a computer in here, as well as (at the moment) your sketchbook, an Artemis Fowl book you’re rereading, and an insanely awesome poster and figurine.
> Oberon: Check computer.
You guess you’ll look for anything new... again. You push the chair aside and look at the links, but no messages have arrived. Looks like your friend is available to chat with, though. Maybe he’ll know whether his guardian is sending the code?
> Oberon: Chat with friend.- Spoiler:
* oneiroiTaleteller [OT] initiates chat with idolatrousKestrel [IK]
OT: Hey IK, there you are. IK: Indeed. OT: So yeah, uh... is that immersion game getting close to being done or something? IK: I cannot say I am entirely sure. IK: Althim is certainly working hard right now, which could mean with equal likelihood that either a large-scale problem has appeared, or he wants the outside graphics to be absolutely perfect. OT: Well, I mean, it’s not like he has to push himself if it’s not ready. OT: I just wondered ’cause he was so certain he would be able to get out the trial copy of the code today. IK: He will, no matter whether he is or is not going slowly right now. IK: I’ll notify you when it’s being sent out. I doubt it will take long to arrive when it’s finally attached to his message, as despite its size, it certainly is not too inefficient of a download. IK: Hm, that reminds me of a tangent. IK: I meant to tell you that Fieldworks considered doing a more ostentatious sendoff, such as sending discs through the mail on a special date to you, me, and a couple of other test-gamers. IK: Althim talked them out of it, and I declined to start testing it simultaneously with you because I felt you were more of a solitary gamer type and because I wanted to see what you would do with the code yourself. OT: well........ thant ceremomy would have ben KINGD OF SILLY manster./ OT: [/soahy] IK: Indeed. IK: In any case, I will notify you with one of the preset chatbox sounds when Althim sends it off. OT: Okay, I might do something else for a little bit then. OT: Talk to you later! IK: Fare well, Oberon. * oneiroiTaleteller is away

You decide to go somewhere else for a bit. Maybe you’ll just go look over your LEGO stuff, go through the boxes or something. Plus there’s a laptop in that room, so you can be notified right away.
> Oberon: Check out LEGO room.
You cleaned it up a while ago, and only a few parts are left out on the floor – you’d arranged them to take a picture a few days ago, when you were going to make a trade. It sure looks spare in here now, though, doesn’t it? Lots of drawers, lots of windows (with closed blinds right now), and some scattered boxes and containers. Plus of course the couch-thing, with your laptop and “quarterstaffs” (more like walking sticks, but you can pretend).
> What’s that orange thing?
What, this? This is a FIKOU, a spider from the BIONICLE story. It was first introduced as a creature from Le-Wahi, you think, a small arachnid that spun treacherously hard-to-see webs in the trees. You prize it and the set it came from - the set, of course, was the Master Builder Set, set number 10023. You recited that from memory. You remember when you first got that set and were able to build several Rahi. Ah, those were the days... | |

| … Well, that was awfully fast.
> Oberon: Answer.
- Spoiler:
* idolatrousKestrel uses Chatbox Sound 9 IK: Wakey, wakey. * oneiroiTaleteller is online OT: IK uses Chatbox Sound 9… it’s super effective? IK: I am well aware that you know nothing about Pokémon. OT: uhm, does your keyboard have those symbols on it OT: or are you just insane enough to copy-and-paste that? IK: As you should have supposed, neither. 8μ OT: ’Cause we all know you’re crazy enough to do that. OT: ninja’d IK: Shall we save the banter for another, equally awaited occasion? Your code is likely arriving now. OT: Oh, right. OT: So I should definitely modify it before making any physical copies of the game? OT: Like, CDs? IK: Apparently, yes. IK: Since the original version requires two or more players, you will certainly need to alter the existing code before testing anything. IK: That is, you will want to alter this code first if you have no particular inclination toward desiring time-sensitive shenanigans involving the cooperation of another player. OT: “desiring”… “shenanigans involving the cooperation of another player”… what the Karzahni man. OT: do you even KNOW how WRONG that sounded? IK: The things I knowingly say and/or do would, no doubt, surprise you. IK: I do have studies to return to at the moment, however. IK: Happy code-altering, Oberon, and happy New Year’s Day. OT: Oh yeah… OT: I wonder what this newfangled “2011” year will bring? * idolatrousKestrel disconnects from chat OT: … Well I guess that means it’s time for me to get down to business. * oneiroiTaleteller is away
