| I've never seen a real-life toa stone, I used to dream about going on a big quest. And I want a greater purpose, In a boring world, with not enough interest.
But every story's like heroes, bad guys, goin' on some great quest, artifacts, big fights, chroniclers to write them, We weren't there, we're doing work safe and sound at home. But everybody's like toa tools, toa teams, magical Kanohi. Toa powers, destiny, becoming turaga. We aren't them, we matoran can't be like them.
And we'll never be Toa (Toa). It ain't our destiny, That kind of fate just ain't for us. We have a different kind of job. Let me be your hero (hero), Call me “Toa” anyway, And maybe I'll save, I'll save, I'll save, I'll save. Let me save the day someday.
My friends and I—we're getting bored. We do the same thing every day, every year. And in our hearts we know we want Something more than this, we don't want to stay here.

Ooh ooh oh We're so insignificant, And I'm tired of hearing “You can't.” Ooh ooh oh Life is great for guys like them. We matoran can't be like them.

| I was counting syllables in the first stanza, and I upset myself wondering if I should complain about the rhyming without rhythm, or if I should err on the side of encouraging other writers. But then recognized the structure of the refrain from "Royals," and I chuckled to myself.
The poor syllable counting is on Lorde, then, or maybe on the artists of whom she's making fun. As for your original contribution, your choice of moment is astoundingly insightful. The life of the Matoran is problematic for a number of reasons, which you've called our attention to. There were purportedly around a thousand Matoran inhabiting Metru Nui, or almost two hundred per Metru, and assuming that they all made it to the surface, that means two hundred per Koro. Life on Mata Nui doesn't seem so bad; there are artists like Hafu, scholars like Nixie, athletes like Hewkii and fans like Epena. There was an assumption that Matoran find there own place in their society, maybe with a nudge from their local Turaga. Metru Nui, however, seems to have been a dystopia long before Teridax possessed Dume. Every single inhabitant of Ta-Metru is supposed to work in forgery, everyone in Le-Metru maintains or operates transportation equipment, ect. Destiny becomes a lot more frightening when it takes the form of a dead-end job identical to that of your neighbors. Sure, you could play Kanoka, but the Disk Dueling variant is supposed to have been a leading cause of crime in the city - that is to say, many Matoran were willing to subject one of their coworkers to an unpredictable fate by throwing a highly volatile disk at them. No wonder they were cheering when the Toa Metru got beaten up in the Coliseum. | |

Yeah, she could have done better with the rhythm. - Quote :
