Here is the all-important place to discuss the Mata Nui Online Game!

First, a little information:

The game was divided into nine "chapters". Each chapter was realised one at a time, and so the original game had a cronological order. Since the ninth chapter was realised, however, the game canbe played in nearly any order, except Le-Koro (which can only be played after completing Onu-Koro) and Ko-Koro (which can only be played after all of the other villages are cleared).

Chapter One: A beach with a cliff. On the cliff is a place to watch the legend of Mata Nui and look through a telescope. A river of lava prevents travel to Ta-Koro, and Tahu walks across the river in an animation, imune to the heat.

Chapter Two: The lava-river disapears allowing acsess to Ta-Koro and the Charred Forest. The enterence to Onu-Koro in Ta-Koro is barricaided.

Chapter Three: Maku appears on the beach. You can save Ga-Koro now. Even after saving the village, the ferryman's hut is in bad disprepear, and so travel to Po-Wahi is impossible.

Chapter Four: The Ga-Koro Matoran repair the ferryman's hut, allowing travel to Po-Wahi. You can now save Po-Koro. Onu-Koro is blocked by a cave-in, and the Ussal Crab Dealer and Pewku are not present.

Chapter Five: The cave-in in Po-Wahi is cleared and the barricaide in Ta-Koro is lifted. Either enterence can be used to acsess Onu-Koro. You can now save Onu-Koro, which is the most complex village, as it has two problems. First, the blocked lightstone mines. Second, enterence to Makuta's lair. Once the lightstone mines are saved, the Onu-Matoran finnish the Le-Koro highway, allowing acsess to Le-Wahi.

Note: The enterence to Makuta's lair is unnessassary to complete Onu-Koro, but it is nessassary to acsess Chapter Seven. The astrologer in Nixie, and she is in Ga-Koro.

Chapter Six: You can save Le-Koro. This is the usually last village to be saved, and once all four troubled villages are safe, talk to Jaller to start Chapter Seven.

Chapter Seven: Nuju has a question for you, but first you must find Matoro, his translator. Once the two are united, Nuju asks you to lead a Company to defend Kina-Nui from the Rahi. Take Nuju's message to all of the Turaga to start Chapter Eight.

Chapter Eight: All of the villages are barricaided, and Le-Koro is made completely inacsessable. Talk to all of the Turaga except Matau to gather your Company (Kapura, Macku, Hafu, Tahiti, Orkahm, and Kopeke) and use their talents to go to Kina Nui. The Toa enter the lair.

Chapter Nine: Battle the Rahi. Once they are defeated, Onepu tells you to take Pewku back to Onu-Koro (which is now so heavily barricaded it is impossible to escape) and desend into Makuta's lair. Here, you watch the Toa defeat Makuta at last (and then you accidentally wake the Bohrok... oops!)

Well, this is a near-universally-beloved game of BIONICLE fans. Some even listed it as the most effective promotion of all. Nevertheless, I'd like to list a few glitches - and I invite you to do so as well.

-Occasionally in Chapter One, Tahu does not appear at all, but you can go to Ta-Koro.

-Occasionally in Chapter One, the Ta-Matoran will ignore you.

(Sorry for hijacking your topic, Spectral, but I just wanted to list the glitches.

I think I only got to Chapter Four... though I barely remember anything past the Charred Forest.

If you're playing the game unlocked, Tahu does not appear and you can go into Ta-Koro. It's not so much a glitch, more of an annoying trait.

As for the Ta-Matoran, which ignore you? Some are supposed to, after all...

Ghost, there have been hundred of BIONICLE games. This is just one of the first.

On Topic: You know, I may have said this already, but I downloaded a version of the MNOLG back when it was still on LEGO's website. It's a file now, and I've tweaked it a few times, but it still runs very similar to the original. If anyone is mad enough to trsut a download I send them, I can e-mail it to you for free.

But don't ask. It's dangerous t download things from strangers. But if you do ask, you shall receive.

Edit: I recently received a new laptop. For complicated reasons, it can't download Flash programs, and so I can no long distribute the MNOLG. However, some smart little bugger put in on Filefront.com. I can't seem to download it myself, but maybe you can! URL: http://www.filefront.com/10073855/MNOLG-I.zip/

AF: Thanks. And it's been nine years since this came out.

Spectral: I already downloaded it, thank you very much.

Ghost: Censoring one letter doesn't circumvent the no-swearing rule. Censoring all the letters does. Also, some games are pretty obscure by now... BS01 has most of them, though.

I remember playing MNOLG waay back, the Game and the comics (but mostly the game) made the Bionicle universe so much more alive than anything else lego had to offer.

so what exactly did you tweak Spectral Mask?

Well, you no longer have to play through chronologically.

Now, you can select any chapter pre-beaten and start from there... I often skip over the Le-Koro Chapter, starting in Chapter One, going up to Onu-Koro, and then exiting to the menu and skipping to the next chapter.

Of course, their were problems with that, so I ended up fusing certian chapters... even if you start in Chapter One, Tahu doesn't show... a few other plot holes.

However, it's a pretty good clone where I'm concerned. It even runs of the same program software as the original, although that causes a few bugs of its own. With any luck, however, you should be able to play through more or less the same way.

I've messed around with editing the game myself a little bit...

I think it would be cool of someone could make a sequel that goes through the Borak swarms attack...

after all it's a very exciting part of the Bionicle storyline with the matoran from Po-koro ending up fleeing to Ga-koro and Le-Koro being overtaken... and the invention of the Boxor!! so that the matoran can actually fight back.....

so much happens, and all we have on that time period is the flash episodes released online.

EDIT: I might be getting off topic but this is something that would, in my opinion, be REALLY awesome.

I think there was a game made that chronicled the attack of the Bohrok (this game, that is <--- link), but it was full of glitches, so...

Yeah I think I tried playing Attack of the Bohrok once....

I just think that it would be cool to have a MNOLG I style game for that period, Attack of the Bohrok was more of an action game, whereas MNOLG I was more like a point-and-click-adventure.

what do you guys think?
do you think that any of the following games where as good as MNOLG I?

MNOLG 2 wasn't bad, it just spent too long in each village, had no real sense of chronolgical order, and the sidequests were two time-consuming.

By the way, about my little ROM, I fear I don't have it on my computer. I'll try to get on my family computer and e-mail it to myself here to distribute it...

I'm just curious, because based on what you tweaked, it would seem you know a thing or two about flash editing....

and yeah, MNOLG II was really time consuming.
not that I'm against time consuming games, it just that the tasks where mundane and repetitive.

I seem to remember some glitches in MNOLGII that made it even more time-consuming... but yes, I clearly remember one pool in Ga-Koro near the beginning where you had to wait a long time for the plants to grow back so that you could harvest them.

Really, my only problem with the Mata Nui Online Game II was that there weren't any puzzles. Other than that, it was a good idea for an RPG.

Of course, the puzzles in the first MNOLG were rather simplistic. It was the minigames that killed you.
