As with my Toa Mata Nui, this idea has been brewing for years now.

It is doubtful that any of you other than Morgoth recall my Hextet of BIONICLE short stories written for BZPower. They were meant to be disparate vignettes showing slices of the same world, and all featured characters who were intended to eventually appear in a follow-up epic. I completed only a quintet of the hextet, and the sixth has never been written, let alone edited.

However, I have always known what the sixth was meant to be. It was to feature a character whom I see as the most mysterious of the Dark Hunters: the Recorder, the small figure who maintained the official logs for the Shadowed One. He, assuming it is indeed a he, only appeared once in the main course of the BIONICLE storyline.

As I have yet to write the sixth of my BIONICLE short story set, I will not yet reveal his role in it. But I have finally, unexpectedly finished the model on which I will base his appearance in future. Below are the pictures for your enjoyment.

Excellent work, as I expect from you, Maestro.

While I question the presence of the pencil in a BIONICLE model - it seems out-of-place, it is a fantastic design. I love his build; he somehow strikes a balance between bulky and lanky; normally, a figure of similar size and proportions would seem bulky, as a grown man with the proportions of a child. Yet something about the way he fits together makes him seem childlike rather than bulky ... there's something quite impish about him.

It all suits the character very well, of course.

The pencil, to begin with, was a hastily-constructed addition, made in what might literally have been the last minute. It was more to demonstrate the dexterity of the Recorder's left hand, as he can grip it without any additional attachments.

I take some pride in the proportions of the build, and I'm pleased that you appreciate it. Of the handful of creations I've made over the previous months, the Recorder is my favorite.
