Year of the Barraki!

Twisted Evil

Hypno vision, underwater insects, and glow in the dark pieces!

Plus, it was the closest to an Ice element year.

To Arty Foul: So it was, so it did, so it had. A good year overall.

To Morgoth: Yes indeed, though 2010 unfortunately is kind of lackluster so far. (The comic and set-canceling.)

Well, that's what it is. I'd have been happy with the eternal loss of the canister if it meant more pieces per set.

Canisters never really helped, I suppose.

And the pieces were terribly limited.

I'm actually ashamed with them.

Well, the canisters actually used to be good for something... the Toa Metru canister lids were a good example. One could be used as a Suva, two could form one of those sleeper spheres, four could be used as wheels...

But the new ones don't do anything, and they limit the actual set's piece count. It's a shame.

Yeah. The 2007 box things were supposed to work as a thing the Mahri could mount their blasters on. They were really stupid.
I think LEGO's attempt to make good sets before ending them was a miserable failure.
I may sound mean, but I seriously think so.

Yep, those 2007 monstrosities weren't much good.

As for these "final" sets... you're mean, but you're right.

No seriously, you pretty much have to insult them to describe them. Gresh's armor especially strikes me as a bitter failure. As feet, maybe, but as chest armor? NO.

Some of the new pieces weren't even any good, like Gresh's armor. The recolors were better. I guess Nektann's spines are okay, too.

Toa-sized Agori makes as little sense as Agori-sized Toa, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Yes, it was a good year, with the Traitor and all... though someone did suspect the true identity of the traitor. I can't remember if it was Ehlek or Mantax that figured it out.

2008 was alright, but not outstanding. 2006 and 2007 were better.

2009 actually exceeded my expectations. It wasn't as bad as it could have been, and it was actually quite good even compared to its predecessors.

Of all the years, 2001 really had in going. They shouls have kept the entire story on the island, adjusted the story a bit, and remodled the sets evry year, and then you'd have something.

Example:

Summer 2001: Same

Winter 2002: Same

Summer 2002: Give the Nuva totally new chests.

Winter 2003: Something other than Bohrok with new colors. New peices.

Summer 2003: Same, Nuva remodling for Takanuva.

Winter 2004: Same, but with mata colors.

Summer 2004: Same, but with mata colors.

Winter 2005: Same, but with mata colors.

Summer 2005: Same, but with mata colors.

Winter 2006: Same

Summer 2006: Same, but with mata colors.

Winter 2007: Revamp all those with Inka or Piraka peices. Takadox, Pridak, and Eelehk survive... for now.

Summer 2007: Revamp all Mahri. Mata colors.

Winter 2008: Makuta all at once. REVAMP! All have Shadow Leeches.

Summer 2008: Toa all at once. REVAMP! All have Midaks. None of these "Nyra Ghost" whatevers.

Winter 2009: Revamp, good guys (Gresh, Terix, and Strakk) mata colors.

Summer 2009: Golden Mata Nui.

Winter 2010: Battara.

Once again, i thank you. better yet, this would have actually made LEGO money.

Inka and Piraka torsos wouldn't be so bad if the uses Metru or Hordika torsos more often.

I actually liked the Metru torsos less than the Inika torsos. Sure, they had "perfect" proportions and gear-functions and whatever, but you couldn't turn the arms in certain directions and the proportions and gears weren't that great.
